The episode title card

Scary Tales Can Come True is the fifth episode of the fourth season of Bluey. It aired after Mix-Ups and before Dadbeat. In this episode, Bluey and BIngo, after getting back from Trick-Or-Treating, take turns telling scary stories, and Bandit listens in on them. The episode adopts an anthology format, as we see these stories as Bluey and Bingo tell them. This episode was generally well-received upon release, giving way to a sub-series of annual Halloween episodes with a similar format, revolving around the same concept.

Plot[]

After getting back from Trick or Treating, Bluey and Bingo go to their room to tell each other scary stories. Curious, Bandit listens in on them, and hears three tales the girls tell.

Story #1: The Haunting of Heeler House[]

In this story, we see the Heelers moving into a new house following an alternate ending of The Sign. Soon, the family is plagued by strange occurrences throughout the house, such as levitating objects, bleeding walls, and finding a portal to another dimension in the basement. Soon, Bandit consults Indy's Mum, a psychic, who discovers that the house is haunted by the ghosts of Aboriginies, because it was built atop an ancient Aboriginal Burial Ground. Soon, the Heelers and Indy's Mum hold a séance to talk to the spirits, accompanied by Snickers' Dad. Soon, they commune with the ghosts, and help them realize that their culture is now treated with respect rather than revulsion. Thus, the story ends with the Heelers and ghosts living together harmoniously, with the ghosts using their powers to scare away burglars.

After this story, Bingo tells Bluey that the story wasn't that scary at the end, to which Bluey replies by daring Bingo to think of a better one. Thusly, Bingo tells a story of her own.

Story #2: Dead Orbit[]

In this story, the Heelers hop aboard a commercial space flight hoping for a bit of excitement. However, the rocket they travel on comes across an abandoned spaceship floating through the cosmos. Soon, the crew of the Heelers' craft brings a cat aboard the ship. However, it is soon revealed that this cat is in fact a parasitic shape-shifting alien, which then tries to eat the entire crew of the Heelers' ship. Seeking a way to stop the creature, Bluey and Bingo soon discover that the alien can be dissolved if it gets made to eat vegetables. Thus, Chilli and Bandit put vegetables in the fire sprinklers, while Bluey and Bingo trap the alien in a room, where it is melted upon eating the veggies. However, as the Heelers return to Earth, a small piece of the Alien's essence is shown to have survived, and soon crawls into a sleeping Bandit's mouth.

Upon hearing this story, Bluey says that the way the alien was defeated was too silly for her. So, Bluey decides to read the story, The Tell-Tale Heart to Bingo, hoping to scare her good.

Story #3: The Tell-Tale Heart[]

This is a mostly straight retelling of the story The Tell-Tale Heart, with Bandit as the unnamed narrator, and Banjo as the murder victim.

After this story, Bingo confesses that it was very scary, and Bluey wins the contest. But after they go to bed, we see Bandit in bed with Chilli, apparently having been scared by the stories told, and paranoid about alien parasites, much to Chilli's chagrin.
