"Romans" is the first episode of Season One of Bluey+, and the first episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
Romans, protectors and invaders. Playing any role they want, Bluey and the Terriers must recruit every kid to take on Bandit and the dads. Joining Bluey and the Terriers are all their friends — including Bingo, Bluey's younger sister; Muffin and Socks, Bluey's cousins; the energetic Chloe; the adventurous and sporty Rusty; the enthusiastic Mackenzie; the very obedient Winton; the small but hardy Pom Pom; the bossy but playful Judo, and more. It'll take all the kids to find a way to save their mums, Calypso and Mrs. Retriever, and stop Bandit and the dads from invading their kingdom — the playground — once and for all.
Returning guest stars include Rose Byrne ("Peter Rabbit") as Brandy, Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton") as Major Tom, and Anthony Field ("The Wiggles") as Rusty's Dad.
Episode recap[]
The episode begins with Bluey and Bingo's car ride to kindy and school. Bandit advises Bluey to obey anyone's instructions when practicing a new game, in which Bluey finds it difficult in understanding. After arriving at the Glasshouse Primary School, Bluey plays Romans with the Terriers. They invade a castle (the playground fort) owned by Bluey, joined by Rusty and Jack, who are instead playing army. When Rusty calls for a dust-off, Bluey tries to suggest him and Jack in fending off the Terriers, only for them to get pounced on in defeat, which leaves Bluey and Rusty having a fall-out between their games; when recess is over, Bluey and her friends gather inside. They listen to Calypso, who announces a history study on the Roman Empire, which excites the Terriers. Calypso meditates the fall-out between Rusty and Bluey, advising them to practice defending themselves.
